Computer History Museum - A visit

As a child, I used to imagine that when I grow up I will work in a bookstore. I will sell books and in spare time read all the books. Whenever I get a chance to visit a big bookstore or Library, I feel as If I have entered heaven, my spine is thrilled with electric spikes.
This August, I got a chance to visit San Jose (Was there to attend an international conference ASONAM 2016 in San Francisco). Feeling a bit adventurous I tried Airbnb for the first time and stayed with Venna, a very sweet lady. When we reached, she suggested that since I am into computers I should visit Computer History Museum, I accepted her suggestion and am very happy that I did. The museum kindled the child in me, and once again I was back to childhood (not that I have really grown old), seeing the Babbage difference engine, the PDP-1, the Jacquard loom, I was transcended into a new world. Education for all

"Education for all", a website developed to facilitate informal tertiary education. Educational resources especially open courseware available on the web are selected, organized and integrated into a meaningful and coherent context - somewhat akin to a virtual university.

This is the link for their Integrated Microelectronics Devices Course the course contains good summary of important semiconductor devices concepts. Worth spending some online hours there.

Ghost of FYUP

The only B.Tech batch of DU, the so enrolled FYUP (2013-2017) now has another hurdle: the one year research project. The project work is spread in both VII and VIII semesters, and carries in total 300 marks out of total of 1200. Ideally, the students should get time slots in the labs to do their work, and for proper guidance by teacher, it should be also reflected in teacher's workload.  Department of Electronics, under good faith, has made specific guidelines to ensure proper running of these projects. The issue is will these guidelines be implemented in totality by the Principals/TICs, who are using different tactics to reduce the workload due to projects, some common being: Give them to guest  (Money matters one guest =four periods=Rs 1000 per week). Will a guest be able to do justice is another matter.If a permanent faculty is ready to take projects, then forcing them to increase their workload from prescribed 14/16. B.Tech Courses by University of Delhi

In year 2013, University of Delhi launched five B.Tech courses, in Computer Science, Electronics, Instrumentation, Food Technology and Polymer Science. At that time students from all over India flocked into Delhi to get admission to these courses. The admission was through cut-off based on their class twelfth marks. Most colleges over admitted the number of students, as no one knew the colleges would be so much sort after.
It seemed like a good option, students get to study in University of Delhi colleges, (still one of the good university in India) and the cost too was affordable, only Rs10,000/- per semester. Most teachers, teaching B.Tech students were also happy, because after many years they were getting chance to teach students with marks in 90s. All was well.
But, then as it happens all good things come to end, don't know who was responsible, DUTA, DUSU, or Private Engineering colleges, the government forced DU to roll back and scrap these B.Tech courses.
